There are very few scope repair companies in the world today that have the expertise to deliver true OEM quality repairs on these highly complex endoscopes. In fact, the dirty little secret in the independent service industry is that most repair companies, big & small, outsource ureteroscope repairs to what can only be considered chop shops. We frequently receive ureteroscopes with altered optical systems that fall far short of OEM specifications. This utter lack of expertise and poor quality workmanship shows up as blurry and dark image quality due to improper/low quality optical components and/or incorrect replacement of light fibers. Unfortunately, we often see jury-rigged tubing replacements (splicing and welding of tubes instead of replacement) that easily leak and can be difficult and dangerous to advance through delicate patient anatomy.
At the very least, poor quality ureteroscope repairs can lengthen procedure times and frustrate surgical teams, but patient injury is a real concern that must be considered, especially with the use of laser and lithotripsy equipment that is often used in these urological procedures.
We source only the highest quality optical components (image guide and objective lenses) that provide the same resolution and image sharpness as brand new ureteroscopes. High quality parts coupled with our technical expertise (OEM-trained technicians) results in repair quality that is indistinguishable from factory repairs and/or rebuilds. Our policy is very simple: we don’t cut corners or take shortcuts to maximize profit. A ureteroscope doesn’t leave our repair lab until it is functioning as good as new, period.
Since ureteroscopes are usually in very short supply, we have built an extensive inventory of current generation repair/exchange scopes that reduce turnaround times to a matter of a couple of hours to next day.
